The rainforest is a tropical walk-through
of time and sweat.
Whimsical birds have a lot to say
parrots, green
blue and yellows fly in and out
of the trees look-
for a flower.

Puerto Rico was formed
from an underground volcano.
There are many fossilized finds
and cavernous places
for animals to take refuge

We walk the swinging rope bridge
and find our way to the forest point.
I can see through the canopy
to the bottomless pleasures
of pinks,
blue,
and oranges.

Lush greens,
so much the eye cannot see,
so far
to the forest floor.
I hear
birds natter
animals squeal,
and listen intently
to their music
and EL Yunque
is alive in their tropical
songs.
